Non-Dramat UP approved productions may rent Dramat equipment and reserve Dramat rehearsal space. Instructions for this are below.

Dramat Rehearsal Space Reservation

Crown Down is the Dramat’s rehearsal space located in room 001 in the basement of 305 Crown St. Since the space belongs to the Dramat, shows that are part of the Dramat’s season have priority access. However, any show/group can request access to the space to use for rehearsals. If you would like to reserve Crown Down, please read the linked Crown Down Reservation Guidelines and follow the instructions.

All production teams reserving Crown Down must follow the Crown Down Housekeeping Guidelines included in the guidelines above. The Production Officer reserves the right to deny requests for use of the space from any group that repeatedly has not followed these guidelines.

Crown Down is not an accessible space and can only be accessed by stairs.

Dramat Costume Rental Policy

Dramat costume shop rentals are free, and must be arranged by reaching out to the Dramat’s Costume Shop Managers (costumeshop@yaledramat.org) to make an appointment to visit the shop. Any Dramat shows going up concurrently have priority access to those costumes over non-Dramat shows. Costumes may be put on reserve up to four weeks before a show enters tech week, but may not be removed from the Dramat Costume Shop until one week before tech. Costumes must be returned clean within one week of the show’s strike by making an appointment with the Costume Shop Managers. Temporary alterations are permitted, but costumes must be returned in their original state. If costumes are returned dirty, damaged, or permanently altered, or not returned at all, the Dramat reserves the right to charge a replacement fee ranging from $5-20 per item, depending on the value of the item.

The Dramat Costume Shop also serves as a costume design workspace, with a sewing machine, iron, and other crafting supplies. This space can be accessed during Costume Shop Manager Office Hours from 3-5pm on Thursdays and 2-5pm on Saturdays, or by making an appointment with the Costume Shop Managers.

Dramat Gel Rental Policy

Deposits for gel rentals run in increments: $10 for up to 10 gels; $2 for each additional group of 10 gels, or portion thereof. (1-10 gels: $10; 11-20 gels: $12; 21-30 gels: $14; etc.) Gel rentals will be unavailable the week before each Dramat show’s tech week, and during tech and performances. Cutting gel requires the written consent of both the Production Officer and the Production Electrician of the upcoming Dramat show. Gel must be returned by 5pm on the day following the show’s run, unless specific arrangements are made through the Dramat Production Officer.

Special Requests

Special rental requests for items not mentioned here must be made at least a week before the desired rental date. The deposit amount of any special requests will be determined at the discretion of Dramat staff. Taking materials without the express written authorization of the Production Officer will result in the termination of Dramat rental privileges from any Dramat department for any individuals found responsible. Any part of the deposit may be kept in order to cover damages or late charges at the discretion of the Dramat.
