Tamara (T) Morris-Thompson earned their MFA in Technical Design and Production from the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale University, a BA in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Technical Design from Piedmont University and completed one year of graduate study in Scenic Design at the University of Georgia before pursuing-their MFA at Yale.
They have over 5 years of professional experience and 9 years of educational experience in theatre in various roles such as technical director, draftsperson, rigger, stage manager, production manager, Electrician, Projections Engineer and as a carpenter. Their professional credits include the Santa Fe Opera, The Alliance Theatre, Stagedoor Manor, Georgia Stage Rigging Company, ShowFab, and the Yale University Art Gallery.
In 2026, they were honored as the recipient of the KM Fabrics Award in Technical Direction, recognizing excellence in the field. They currently serve as the Technical Director for Undergraduate Productions at Yale University, where they oversee the technical realization of undergraduate productions, mentor emerging theatre makers, and foster collaborative production practices rooted in equity, diversity, and inclusion. Their areas of expertise include technical direction, scenic construction, drafting, and inclusive production processes.
